If the title doesn’t say it all, let me elaborate…
Off the top, here is another 100% North American company. Coast Spas are manufactured in Langley, British Columbia and sources all their components from either Canada or the United States. Some of C0ast’s key suppliers are Owens Corning, Sony and Pleatco.
They are also one of only a handful with the prestigious ISO 9001:2008 certification. This means excellent quality control during every step of the manufacturing process, resulting in incredibly well-made spas.
Now Coast Spas is fiercely proud of some of its accomplishments so let me list a few of them:
And believe me, the list goes on!
So what does this all mean to you? Well, first of all, you get lots of options. You also get an incredible warranty package. And Coast is SO confident in its product that it offers a lifetime warranty on your spa’s acrylic, as long as it’s on a proper foundation, of course. How can they offer that? Well, they’re the only manufacturer that reinforces their shells with 8-14 layers of Owens Corning fiberglass AND 1 1/4″ of angle iron. If you compare the weight between one of Coast’s competitors tubs, a Coast Spa will easily weigh up to 300lbs more, just because of how they are built! That means no more hot tub parties where you’re worried if the tub is going to cave in!
The majority of Coast Spas also come with Cyclonic Filtration – anywhere from 50sq ft to 175sq ft depending on the model. Coast designed and developed this system with Pleatco Filtration. What Coast found was that most canister style filters only use about 60-70% of the filter, leaving the top 1/3 unused. So they designed a system that uses a hydrocyclone. The hydrocyclone is created when the little fan blades at the bottom of the filter spin around, thereby forcing the water up over the entire canister and down through the middle, using the entire filter. Ultimately this results in much cleaner water. That, paired with the programmable filtration nearly double the amount of filtration in a Cyclonic Filtration spa compared to one with an Exposed Filter (In the skimmer).
Coast Spas also offers three options for insulation of your tub – Heat Capture, Partial Foam and Full Foam. Heat Capture means they insulate the cabinet and floor only. Partial Foam is where only the shell is insulated and Full Foam is a solid cabinet fill, meaning that spray foam is blown through the entire cabinet, around all the pipes and the under side of the shell. Now while the first two allow your pipes to be easily accessed in case of a leak, the full foam actually supports the weight of the water in the pipes and prevents anything from moving, thus highly reducing the chance of ever having a leak. Not to mention, it also fully insulates the tub from the cold in the winter, and helps to hold in much more heat than the other two options. The full foam option is available on all Coast Spas and will greatly reduce the amount of money you end up paying to keep the tub heated. It will also pretty much eliminate the chance of you pipes freezing if you want to run the tub in the winter.
Another one of my favourite features in a Coast Spa is the Infinity Edge offered in the Cascade series. These are the world’s only zero displacement tubs. How they work is the water cascades over the edge of the tub into the skimmer, and then falls into a small holding tank inside the tub. This allows for overflow when you have multiple people in the tub. On other tubs, the water will have to spill over the sides and then you end up re-filling the tub after a party, or a large gathering. With the Cascade, the water just re-circulates through the filtration system and back into the tub. The Cascade also means that you don’t end up losing a seat in your tub due to the skimmer being in the way, as the skimmer is at the bottom of the Cascade itself. Talk about a clean tub!
One thing I should also mention is that pretty much every Coast Spa can be equipped with a full media package, including a stereo that can synch to your bluetooth enabled phone. If you choose this option, the tub will be equipped with a microphone so if you should receive a phone call while sitting in the tub, you’ll be able to talk to whomever is on the other end simply by speaking into the side of your hot tub! How neat is that!? There are also several very fun lighting packages available, including one with holographic lighting that looks very cool in the dark!
The final series that has me swept away is the Wellness Series. Coast has developed a line of Swim Spas like nothing else you’ve seen. There are four spas in this series and each of them certainly has its charms. The Wellness I is a small eight foot tub that can double as a hot tub with room for six. It also comes with a full set of workout cords and straps as well as a handle inthe center of the tub which is excellent for seniors or those with limited mobility. The next two in the series are 12 foot long spas that have River Jets and Levitator Jets. The River Jets provide an adjustable head-on current which allows you to swim as hard or as leisurely as you would like, right in the comfort of your own backyard. They also come with outlets where you can attach similar workout systems as with the Wellness I, providing a true full-body workout if you so choose. The Wellness II comes with bench seating along one end which is perfect for resting or sitting to do certain exercises. The Wellness II(L) functions the same, but comes with a lounge section, instead of bench seating, and includes some extra hydrotherapy jets. Just turn up the heat after your workout and soak away those aches! Finally the Wellness III is a little add-on module for the Wellness II. It’s basically a seven foot tub with a notch cut out of one corner to attach it to your Swim Spa. This lets you run your Swim Spa at a cooler temperature, and still have a place to relax after your workout. Check out a short video here: Wellness Spa Video
